Gladys Smith Hataway age 82, a resident of Elba, Alabama passed away Friday, September 20, 2024 at her home surrounded by her family. A Celebration of Life service will be held at Mt. Gilead Baptist Church on Sunday, September 29, 2024 beginning at 3:00 PM with Rev. Dewey Emfinger officiating. The family will receive friends at the church at the conclusion of the service. 
     Gladys will be remembered as a loving wife, mother, and grandmother by her family. She had an unwavering faith in her Lord and Savior and continued her willingness to submit to His will until her final days. She will be remembered by her former co-workers at National Security Insurance Company for her vital role in their daily operations. She will be missed by many.
     She is survived by her husband of 64 years, Bobby Hataway, along with daughter, Anita Marie Jones, and son-in-law, Steven Jones of Enterprise, Alabama, along with her son, Marlin David Hataway and daughter-in-law, Phyllis Hataway of Elba, Alabama. She also leaves behind to cherish her memory, five grandchildren, and six great-grandchildren.

     Mrs. Hataway was preceded in death by her parents, Alvena and James Stephen Smith, along with a son, Stephen Winfred Hataway, along with a brother, James Lester Smith.
