Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, January 16, 2024 at 10:30 am in Sunset Funeral Home Chapel with Father Jim Dane officiating. Burial will follow in Garden Hills Cemetery in Opelika, Alabama. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 5-7 pm on Monday, January 15, 2024 with prayer service starting at 7:00 pm.
Glenda Faye Miller, a beacon of love and faith, passed away peacefully on January 12, 2024, at the age of 83 in Dothan, Alabama. Born on December 11, 1940, in Alabama, she was a devoted mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, and friend who touched the lives of many with her caring heart and adventurous spirit.
Glenda, a cherished member of the Greathouse family, was predeceased by her loving husband, Cecil Gerald Miller; her son, Perry A. Miller; her daughter-in-law, Patricia Miller; her parents, Marion Victor Greathouse and Katherine Greathouse Reeves; her brothers, Don Greathouse and Gregory Greathouse. She leaves behind a legacy of love and dedication through her sons, Dr. Alan (Gina) Miller and Gerund Miller; her brother, Larry (Faye) Greathouse; and her sisters, Betty Johnson, Gerdine Carroll, and Teresa (Charles) Jowers.
Glenda's life was enriched by the joy of her grandchildren: Brad Brinkley, Shane (Erica) Brinkley, David (Kellie) Miller, Gavin Miller, Riley Miller, and Emily Miller. She also delighted in the wonders of her great-grandchildren, Deacon Miller and Callie Brinkley. Known for her nurturing spirit, she also held a special place in her heart for her numerous nieces and nephews, whom she adored as if they were her own.
A proud graduate of Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College, Glenda earned her degree in Nursing and dedicated over 40 years to the nursing field. She moved to Dothan in the 1990s and became an esteemed Nursing Coordinator at Southeast Medical Center, where she worked from 1993 until her retirement. Her commitment to her profession was matched only by her dedication to her family and her faith.
Glenda's involvement at St. Columba Catholic Church reflected her deep faith and her love for her community. She was a steadfast parishioner who lived her beliefs through action and kindness. Her adventurous nature was complemented by her love of the beach, where she enjoyed the tranquility of the ocean and the simple pleasures of fishing and crabbing.
Friends and family will remember Glenda as a loving matriarch who was always ready to share a story or offer guidance. Her adventurous spirit led her to embrace life's challenges with grace and courage. She was a woman of faith who instilled values of love and generosity in all who were fortunate enough to know her.
Glenda's legacy will continue to inspire those she has left behind. Her unwavering love, nurturing demeanor, and the joy she found in the simplest of life's pleasures will be dearly missed. Her life was a testament to the power of compassion and the strength of a loving family.
As we bid farewell to Glenda Faye Miller, we celebrate a life beautifully lived and a journey completed with faith and love. Her memory will forever be cherished as a guiding light to all who knew her. Rest in peace, dear Glenda, until we meet again.
