ASHFORD. . .Glenda Hughes Dotson, a resident of Ashford, died Tuesday night, March 12, 2024, at her home. She was 81.
Graveside services will be held at 1:00 P.M. Sunday, March 17, 2024, in the Cedar Springs Baptist Church Cemetery, near Ashford, with Dr. Henry Hughes officiating. The family will receive friends following the graveside services. Holman-Headland Mortuary & Cremations is in charge of arrangements.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Cedar Springs Baptist Church, c/o John W. King, 974 Jack Bruner Road, Ashford, AL 36312.
Glenda Dotson was born and reared in Houston County, between Webb and Columbia, daughter of the late Enoch Edell Hughes and Toye Cook Hughes. She was a 1960 graduate of Houston County High School in Columbia and received an Associate Degree from Alverson-Draughon Business College in Birmingham. Glenda retired as a Senior Government Analyst, Department of Highway Safety in the Motor Vehicle Headquarters in Tallahassee. She formerly volunteered at Florida State University and Alabama College of Osteopathic Medicine in Dothan. Glenda was a member of Cedar Springs Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by three brothers, Damon Hughes, Keith Hughes and Reginal “Buddy” Hughes.
Surviving relatives include three daughters, Bonny Allen, Tallahassee, FL; Melisa Alvaranga, Bonita Springs, FL; and Anna Maria Dotson, Tallahassee, FL; three sisters, Era Womack, Cottonwood, AL; Cathy McCullough, Webb, AL; and Vicki Turner, Webb, AL; three brothers, Henry Hughes (Kathleen), Columbia, AL; Dennis Hughes (Faith), Ashford, AL; and Rodney Hughes, Columbia, AL; grandchildren, Bobby Allen, Timothy Alvaranga, Sabrina Alvaranga, Elizabeth Alvaranga and Mary Allen; numerous nieces and nephews.
