Glenda Mercer, 65, of Dothan passed away Monday August 13, 2012 at her residence.

Funeral services will be 11 am Thursday, August 16, 2012 at Sunset Funeral Home with Rev. James Bell and Rev. Doug Shumate officiating. The family will receive friends from 9:30 to 11 am prior to the service at the funeral home.

Mrs. Mercer was born May 31, 1947 in Houston County and was a 1965 graduate of Houston County High School. She was employed with Sony and later attended Wallace College Cosmetology School. She was then employed as a lab instructor in the cosmetology department at Wallace College for 24 years until her retirement in November of 2011. Mrs. Mercer attended Smyrna Baptist Church.

Survivors include her husband of 47 years Richard Wayne Mercer; three children, Ricky Wayne Mercer, Johnny Lee Mercer and Christy Lynn Spivey; five grandchildren, Zackery Mercer, Casey Mercer, Kaley Shelley, Kaleb Spivey and Karley Spivey; a great-grandchild Leah Mercer; two sisters, Shirley Bradley and Lillie Geer; one brother Wayne Jenkins; and a long time friend Bobby English.
