Gloria Jean Troxel Garst, a longtime resident of Pinckard, AL, passed away on Friday, April 30, 2021 in a local hospital. She was 74 years old.
A celebration of her life will be held at 10 am on Monday, May 10, 2021 in Sunset Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Chris Woodall officiating. Burial will follow in Sunset Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 9-10 am at the funeral home on Monday.
Gloria was born on January 12, 1947 to Herbert and Francis Troxel in Osawatomie, Kansas. She then married the love of her life, John Richard Garst and together would move their family to the Pinckard area in the 1974. Gloria, along with several of her family members, proudly worked for MP Surplus Outdoors, Inc. for many years where she was the manager. Family was one of the most important things to Gloria, she enjoyed spending every minute she could with them. She and her husband found joy in serving as leaders in the Cub Scouts for their children and grandchildren. Gloria was a longtime member of Pinckard Baptist Church.
Gloria is preceded in death by her parents, Herbert Dean “Bud” and Francis Geraldine Barker Troxel, her sister, Jerri and her husband Frank, and her brothers-in-law, Mike, JP, Dale, and Truman.
Survivors include her husband of 58 years, John Richard Garst; her daughter, Alicia Francine Garst Pescod (Joseph Windham); her 2 sons, Joseph Marion (Tina) Garst and John Richard Garst, II (Grace Mordido-Martin) ; her daughter, Jennifer Garst; her grandchildren, Richard (Brooke), Joseph (Michelle), Molly (Rickey), Justin, Rosemary (Kyle), Amalia, Riky, Shaun, Aeryn, and Evan; her great-grandchildren, Kolby, Alexander, Richie, Samuel, and Benjamin; her sisters, Deanna (Larry) Byers, Marilyn (Mike) Robinette, Bonnie Partridge , Kathy Garst, Fran (Eldon) Richardson, and Patricia Stauffer; and a host of nieces and nephews.
