Gordon Donald “Butch” Remington of Samson, AL passed away peacefully at Southeast Health surrounded by his family on Friday, October 13, 2023. He was 76 years old.
Funeral services will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Tuesday, October 17, 2023, at New Prospect Baptist Church with Rev. Duane Delmain and Rev. Elbert Smith officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery with Warren Holloway Ward Funeral Home of Geneva directing.
Mr. Remington was born in Wakefield, RI on April 20, 1947, to the late Donald Francis and Marguerite Evelyn Tefft Remington. Butch proudly served his country in the United States Army from 1966 until 1976 and saw action in the Vietnam War. He also served in the Alabama National Guard. He settled down in the quiet little town of Samson, AL in 1982 and remained there until his death. Other than his military career, he farmed his entire life. His hobbies included going to auctions, scrapping, building race cars, riding around, and talking to everyone at Revels Farm. His biggest accomplishment was accepting Jesus as his Savior and Lord. Next would be his family that he loved with all his heart.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one brother, Edmund Stacy.
He is survived by his children, Donna Delmain (Duane), Kim Watson (Lee), and Gordon Remington (Jenice); mother of his children, Carol Ann Remington; grandchildren, Ashton Fischer (Jeremy), Gordon Micheal Remington (Sharlene), Kaylee Carroll (John William), Hannah Dykes, Matthew Delmain, Aaron Delmain, Rex Delmain, Walker Watson, Kaylee Kilpatrick, Bristol Kilpatrick, LeAnn Kilpatrick; great grandchildren, Easton Frazier, Cason Fischer, Blakely Remington, Nienan Remington, Hadley Fischer, and Sadie Carroll; one sister, Patricia Albury; special friends, Tim Yates, Shane Simmons, and Jaime Wiggins; and many special nieces, nephews, and extended family .
