Gregory “Greg” Mason Yost, of Dothan, Al, a life taken too soon to be called home on Sunday, February 12, 2017 at Southeast Alabama Medical Center. He was 66.
Mr. Yost was born December 22, 1950 in Mobile, Al. He graduated from Davidson High School in 1968. After he entered in the US Army where he traveled to Germany and developed a love of photography. He then went on to work with Van’s Photo in Mobile, Al for 10 years. His love of landscaping and gardening became a career and brought him to Greater Gulf States Fairgrounds in Mobile, Al where he worked for 10 years. In 1998 he took a job with the National Peanut Festival and brought his family to Dothan. Through the years he has developed many friends through the peanut festival and a deep respect and fellowship with Dothan’s First Responders. He spent many weekends fishing with some of his closest friends and cherished many fond memories that they made. He loved spending time with his children and his grandchildren who were a special kind of light in his life. He spent his last days enjoying the great outdoors.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Vernon Albert Yost and Helen Davis Yost.
Survivors include former wife and friend, Vanessa Stone Yost; son, Christopher Mason Yost (Ashely McElhenney); daughter, Courtney Yost Brown (Heath Allen) brothers, DeWitt D. Yost (Theresa N.) of Stapleton, Al and Karl Yost of Virginia; grandchildren, Ansley Claire Yost, Stone Allen Brown, Peyton Amanda Brown, Paige Alexis Brown; and his loyal pet Ava.
A Celebration of Greg’s life will be held on Thursday, February 16, 2017, at 4:00 P.M., at First United Methodist Church of Dothan with Dr. Ricky Plummer officiating. A visitation will be held on Thursday, February 16, 2017 from 2:00 – 4:00 PM., with Ward Wilson Funeral Home directing.
