COTTONWOOD. . .Gregory Scott Prokopchuk. a resident of Cottonwood, went to be with his Lord and Savior late Saturday afternoon, May 15, 2021, in a Dothan hospital. He was 57.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M. Wednesday, May 19, 2021, in the Union Hill Baptist Church with Pastor Kyle Johnson officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Holman-Headland Mortuary & Cremations is in charge of arrangements. The family will receive friends from 10:00 until 11:00 A.M. Wednesday in the church sanctuary.
Flowers will be accepted or memorial contributions may be made to the Union Hill Baptist Church, 7335 South County Road 33, Cottonwood, AL 36320.
Greg Prokopchuk was born and reared in Miami, Florida. He lived in Cottonwood most of his adult lifetime where he was a member of the Union Hill Baptist Church. Greg was formerly employed as an electrician. He was preceded in death by his step-father, Robert Holcomb, his grandparents, Leonard and Lula Hardy and Charles and Mary Prokopchuk, a special friend, Maria Grubb and his special canine friend, “BamBam”. Greg enjoyed fishing, hunting and playing the organ and piano.
Surviving relatives include a daughter, Kimberly Prokopchuk Raybon (Cory), Dothan; a son, David Prokopchuk, Taylor, AL; his mother, Gail Hardy Holcomb, Cottonwood; his father and step-mother, Don and Nelda Prokopchuk, Panama City Beach, FL; a sister, Wendy Perez, Jacksonville, FL; a step-brother, Phillip Creel (Melany), Panama City Beach, FL; four grandchildren, Madi Connor Raybon, Ryland Raybon, Kobi Prokopchuk and Molli Prokopchuk; a niece, Briana Hernandez and two nephews, Billy Perez and Bryan Perez.
