DOTHAN…Guinevere Murray Hall-Davidson, a resident of Dothan, formerly of Haleburg, AL, died Wednesday, December 14, 2016, after a brief illness. She was 87.
Funeral services will be held at 10:00 A.M. Saturday, December 17, 2016, at Piney Grove Primitive Baptist Church, 1947 Broad Street, Headland, AL 36345. Elder Clayton Nowell will officiate. The family will receive friends from 4:00 to 6:00 P.M. Friday, December 16, 2016, at the Holman-Headland Mortuary Chapel, 305 South Main Street, Headland, AL Burial will follow in Gardens of Memory, between Headland and Dothan.
Mrs. Hall-Davidson, known as “Miss Guinnie,” was born and lived most of her life in Henry County, AL. She was a member of Piney Grove Primitive Baptist Church and a former member of Haleburg Baptist Church where she served many years as pianist and organist. She was retired from Houston County Schools where she served as a school nutrition specialist and administrative assistant at Houston County High School. In 1980 she received The National Louise Sublette Award of Excellence for her outstanding school nutrition education program. She enjoyed traveling, and she served as a volunteer at the Southeast Alabama Medical Center, Dothan, AL.
Mrs. Hall-Davidson was preceded in death by her husband of fifty-six years, Roy Herschel Hall; her parents, Myer L. and Nellie M. Murray; her brother, Nick Murray; and her sister, Ruby Stinson, and a step-great-grandchild, Brandon Reed.
She is survived by her husband, Jim Davidson; her daughters, Susan (Jim) Bannon of Auburn, AL and Glenda (David) Dennis of Dothan, AL; her son, Dr. Bruce (Marie) Hall of Dothan, AL; her sister, Earlene Woodham of Ozark, AL; and her sisters-in-law, Margaret (Bill) Ayers, of Ft. Valley, GA. and Winnie Murray of Abbeville, AL; and a brother-in-law, Henry Rawls of Montgomery, AL. She is also survived by her step-children: Lyn (David) Reed, Rhonda Davidson, Randy (Kim) Davidson, and Wesley (Cindy) Davidson of Albany, GA.
She had five grandchildren survive her: Benjamin (Breanne) McSwean of Orlando, FL; Matt (Brady) Hall of Spanish Fort, AL; Laura Bannon of Birmingham, AL; Patrick (Erin) Hall of Acworth, GA; and Blake (Sagan) Hall of Auburn, AL; step-grandchildren, Jim (Terri) Dennis, John (Donna) Dennis, Ann (Tonny) Peters, Sarah (Travis) Burnham, Emily Bauman and Daniel Bauman.
Five great-grandchildren survive her: Sanders, Sawyer, and Shephard Hall, and Piper and Alexandria Paige Hall; nineteen step-great-grandchildren; eleven nieces and seven nephews.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Piney Grove Primitive Baptist Church, 1947 Broad Street, Headland, AL 36345 or to the American Heart Association, 1449 Medical Park Drive, Birmingham, AL 35213.
