Gussie Mae Jones Williams was born August 19, 1934 to the late L. W. Jackson and Vera McElroy. She departed this life to enter into her heavenly home on Monday, March 24, 2014 at Southeast Alabama Medical Center.
She was the oldest of five children, and was married to the late Willie Williams. She was preceded in death by three of her children, Mary E. Crawford, Walter Jones and Adams Jones, Jr., and two brothers, L. Jr. Jackson and John C. Jackson. She was a member of New Life Ministry under the leadership of Elder Dennis Durry.
Gussie is lovingly remembered by her three daughters Linda Hart, Vera Daniel and Sentia Jones; her son Willie Williams Jr.; brother Gene R. Matthews from Racine, Wisconsin; sister Barbara Greenwood; sixteen grandchildren Latisha (Charles) Freeman, David McElroy, Angela (Sedrick) Poke, Alja Jones, Kaneshia Rena (Craig) Roberson, Lee (Jerri) Barnes, Cyntania Jones, Latina Jones, Felicia Nicole Silmon, Tiffany (Desmon) Wright, Walter Jones McCord, LaToya Jones McCord, Quincy Jones, Towanna Williams, Johnny Jones, Tyler Williams; 34 great-grandchildren and 5 great-great grandchildren.
Funeral services will be 11 am Saturday, March 29, 2014 at Sunset Funeral Home Chapel with Elder Dennis Durry officiating. Burial will follow in Sunset Memorial Park with Robert Byrd directing. The family will receive friends from 4-6 pm Friday at the funeral home.
