Gwendolyn Ingram Hopper, 89 years of age, passed away peacefully on June 12, 2024.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday, June 19, 2024, at 11 A.M., at the First Baptist Church in Eufaula with Dr. Ken Bush officiating. Burial will follow in Liberty Baptist Church Cemetery in Pansey, Alabama at 3 P.M. with Chapman
Funeral Home directing.
Gwen was born December 1, 1934, in Pansey, Alabama to the late Woodrow Wilson and Mary Oleta Etheredge Ingram. She graduated from Ashford High School and Auburn University, in Home Economics and Early Education. Upon graduation in 1957 she married Lieutenant Vernon Alfred Hopper. They lived overseas in Germany where their daughter
Gay Lynn Hopper was born in 1960.
They then moved stateside where Gwendolyn taught school around the country
settling in Eufaula, Alabama in 1975. She retired from teaching in 1999 after thirty-three years. Gwendolyn then pursued her passion for gardening which gave her serenity and joy. Mrs. Hopper was a faithful member of First Baptist Church and had many close friendships in her Sunday School class, Birthday Club, Supper Club and Baker Hill School.
Mrs. Hopper is preceded in death by her parents and 3 brothers: Gareth, Manley, and Ronnie Ingram and her sister: Shelba Jean Scarbrough. Survivors include her husband: Vernon Hopper; daughter: Gay Lynn Hopper; brother: Terry Ingram; sister: Gerry
Womack (Bobby); sisters in law: Edna Ingram and Sylvia Ingram.
