Hal R. Bynum
Hal R. Bynum, age 87 of Webb, passed away early Friday morning, September 18, 2020, at his home, surrounded by his family and under the care of 1st Choice Hospice.
Funeral services for Mr. Bynum will be 2pm Monday, September 21, 2020 in the chapel of Family First Funeral Care with Chaplain John Gormley and Reverend Eddie Littlefield officiating. Burial will follow in the Cedar Springs (Georgia) Cemetery. The family will receive friends for one hour prior to service time at the funeral home. Social distancing guidelines shall be observed and everyone is asked to wear a mask.
Mr. Bynum was born September 9, 1933 in Cedar Springs, GA to the late Oscar Leon and Martha Inez Johnson Bynum. He lived his entire life in the Wiregrass area, with exception to the time he spent serving our country as a member of the U.S. Air Force. Mr. Bynum worked as a helicopter mechanic at Ft. Rucker, working for several different contractors until his retirement. Even when not at work, and in retirement, he could often be found in his work shop doing what he loved most, welding fabrication. He formerly attended Watermark Church in Ashford.
In addition to his parents, Mr. Bynum was preceded in death by four brothers, Wayne, Fred, Winston, and Gordon. Survivors include his wife, Era Bynum of Webb; a daughter and son-in-law, Deborah and Elliot Schwartz of Tuscaloosa; three sons and two daughters-in-law, Randy and Valerie Bynum of Dothan, Greg Bynum of Cottonwood, and Woody and Stacy Whiddon of Webb; a brother, Max Bynum of Las Vegas, NV; a sister, Frances Mitchell of Walnut Grove, GA. Also surviving are six grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
