Harold Glen Melton, age 90, formally of Samson, AL passed away Saturday, June 1, 2024 at Chautauqua Springs Health Care, Defuniak Springs, FL.


Graveside services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, June 5, 2024, at Piney Grove Assembly of God Church Cemetery on Highway 87 N. of Samson, AL with Rev. Jimmy Eddins and Rev. Dr. Max McKinney officiating and under the direction of Shelby Lett of Bottoms Garden Chapel Funeral Home.


Glen was preceded in death by his wife of 62 years, Jimmie R. Powell Melton; his parents, Rev. Wilmer and Willie Melton of Samson; a brother-in-law, Oscar Ed Bell of Grimes, AL; nephew, Steven Melton of Enterprise, AL; and sister-in-law, Sloan Melton of Enterprise, AL.


He is survived by a brother Ray Melton of Enterprise, AL; sister Dorothy (Dot) Bell McKinney (Max) of Dothan, AL; nephew, Brent (Susan) Milton of Enterprise, AL; nieces, Dr. Tawanna Hall and Beverly (Tyler) Wyndham of Panama City, FL; great nieces, Serah Hall of Ashford, AL and Callie Melton Chastang (Dennis) of Enterprise, AL.


Glen lived most of his life in the Samson area. He retired from Wiregrass Medical Center in Geneva, AL after 19 years of service. A special thanks to the CNA’s, nurses, and all the staff at Chautauqua Nursing Center in Defuniak Springs, FL for the care given to Glen during his time there, Gentiva Hospice, and his neighbors, Winford and Elaine Johnson, of Samson, for caring for Glen and his family for many years. ?
