 Harold M. Little

Harold Murphy Little, of Westville, FL, passed away Thursday, October 22, 2015 peacefully at his home. He was 61 years old.

Funeral services will be held 2:00 p.m. Sunday, October 25, 2015 at Beulah Anna Baptist Church with Brother Eddie Eaton officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery with Byrd Funeral Home of Dothan, AL directing. The family will receive friends from 5-7 p.m. Saturday evening at the church.

Flowers will be accepted or memorials may be made to the National Down Syndrome Society, 666 Broadway, 8th Floor, New York, NY 10012.

Harold was born February 16, 1954 in Enterprise, AL, but lived most of his life in Westville, FL. He was a 1972 graduate of Samson High School and married the love of his life, Teresa Odom, in 1973. He started working at the tender age of 10 and was a humble farmer all his life. Harold began his own logging corporation, Logging, Inc. in 1981, and he provided for his family in that profession for 25 years. The business grew and years later became Sha-Little Land and Timber. Health problems brought about an early retirement from the logging business, but with his tremendous work ethic he wasn’t about to stop. He went back to his true passion of farming. He loved working the land and took great pride in his crops.

Harold passed on many of his old-fashioned ways, his morals and that fervent work ethic to all of his girls. He was an honest man, a man of integrity, and if he gave you his word, you could bet he would follow through with his promise. He was stern and unwavering, but also kind and tender-hearted. He was generous to his neighbor and he was loving. Harold loved the Lord and he loved his family with his whole heart. He will be sorely missed by all who knew and loved him.

He was preceded in death by his father, James Harold Little and his step-father, Dink Hornsby of Geneva.

Survivors include his wife, Teresa Little of Westville, FL; 4 daughters, Sherri King (Scott) of Slocomb, AL, Sharla Grantham (Buckie, Sr.) of Geneva, AL, Shannon Yarbrough (Jeremy) of Hartford, AL, and Shanae Little of Westville, FL; 6 grandchildren, Buckie Grantham, Jr., Jamey King, Josh King, Sidney Grantham, Colton Yarbrough and Alissa Yarbrough; his mother, Faye Hornsby of Geneva, AL; 4 brothers, Ricky Hornsby (Linda) of Geneva, AL, David Hornsby of Geneva, AL, Hayward Hornsby (Jean) of Niceville, FL, and John Hornsby (Lea) of Dothan, AL. Several extended family members and special friends also survive.

Serving as pallbearers are his brothers, Ricky, Hayward, and John Hornsby and close family friends, Gil Anderson, Mike Anderson, Willie Frank Sewell, Coy Stafford, and Robert Ward. His brother, David, will serve as a special honorary pallbearer.
