Harold Spicer, 86, departed this life Friday, August 19, 2022, at his home in Elba, Alabama. Funeral services will be held from Westside Baptist Church on Monday, August 22, 2022, at 2 p.m., with the Rev. Ken Wilson and Rev. Kaye Yates officiating. Committal services will follow in the Early Town Cemetery. Visitation will be at Westside Baptist Church on Monday, August 22, 2022, from 12:30 until 2 p.m.
Harold and Ann would have celebrated 69 years of marriage on August 22, 2022. Harold started his career at Dorsey Trailers, where he worked from 1955 until 1968. In 1968 he went into business for himself as owner and operator of Spicer Plumbing, Electric, Heating and Cooling, where he worked until his death. He often said he would rather wear out than rust out. In 1979 Harold was the NASCAR late model sportsman track champion and also runner-up for state points champion.
He was a long-time deacon at Westside Baptist church where he attended for many years. He was civic minded, serving four terms as a member of the Elba City Council. He also represented Elba on the board of Southeast Gas.
Survivors include his wife, Annie Rae Spicer, of Elba; daughters, Patsy (Donald) Lindsey of Dothan, and Sandra Spicer (Richard Reysake) of Lillian; son, Terry (Ceina) Spicer, of Elba; his grandchildren, Niki Lindsey Fletcher, Scott Lindsey, Kendal Vaughn, Paige Culpepper, Hayes Spicer, and J. Cole Spicer; and eight great-grandchildren.
Harold was preceded in death by his parents, Ballard and Sally Spicer; sisters, Merle Parrish and Frances Pearson; and brothers Opal, Leland, and Rayvon "PG" Spicer.
Hayes Funeral Home of Elba is serving the Spicer family.
