Harry Henson Carver of Enterprise passed away Sunday, June 17, 2012, at Flowers Hospital. He was 74.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M., Wednesday, June 20, 2012 at Searcy Funeral Home and Crematory Chapel with Rev. Rob West and Dr. Wesley Fondren, his nephew, officiating. Burial will follow at 4:00 P.M. on Wednesday in Jefferson Memorial Cemetery in Trussville, AL. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Tuesday from 5:00 to 7:00 P.M. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials be made to: First United Methodist Church of Enterprise, 217 S. Main, Enterprise, AL 36330, First United Methodist Church of Northport, 700 Main Ave., Northport, AL 35476, or your charity of choice.
Harry worked for over 36 years at Alabama Power. He was a loving husband, father and grandfather, and a devoted employee that exemplified work ethic and community service. He was a graduate of Tuscaloosa High School and the University of Alabama. He was an avid fan of Alabama Football.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Joseph Lester Carver and Daisy Henson Carver; also, a brother, Charles Carver.
Survivors include his wife of 46 years, Polly Lindsey Carver; daughter, Cathy C. Staggs (Jon); son, Harry H. Carver, Jr.; six grandchildren, Judson and Holly Miller, Matthew and Nicholas Carver, Jon Ingram and Jordan Staggs; two brothers, Kenneth Carver (Sandy), Donald Carver (Christine) and many nieces and nephews.
Serving as pallbearers are, Douglas Connell, Charles Gibbs, Dave Edge, Reggie Allen, Bob Kelley and Jim Ivey. Honorary pallbearers will be Ann and Melvin Sellers, Mac Lindsey, Fred Rodgers, Bill Goodman, Doug Page, Roy Crow, Jerry Fuller, Lamar Calloway, Leon Wilson, Bruce Miller, Alabama Power Retirees and friends and neighbors.
