Harry Junior Riley, 90, a native of Dale County and longtime resident of Ozark, Alabama, died Sunday, October 9, 2016, at Greenbriar at the Altamont Nursing Home in Birmingham, Alabama, following a prolonged illness.
Mr. Riley, lovingly known as “Junior” to his family, was a lifelong resident of Dale County. He was a veteran of the Korean War. His greatest joy was working with watches. He spent 55 years fixing watches and clocks in Ozark, working up until the day when he experienced his stroke at age 89. Mr. Riley was a well-respected man in his community, and was marked by a generous spirit who willingly gave of his time, ability, and assets to help others throughout his life.
He is survived by one sister, Shirley Woodham, of Slocomb, Alabama, and numerous nieces and nephews. He will be greatly missed by his extended family, as well as his many customers. Mr. Riley was predeceased by his parents, William Harry and Florence Blackmon Riley; brothers, John Luther, James, and Ed; and sisters, Ruth Grace Elmore, Merle Evans, and Sue Roberts.
Graveside services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, October 21, 2016, at the Mt. Pisgah Baptist Church Cemetery, County Road 83, Newville, Alabama. Pastor Harold Peters will be officiating, with Fuqua-Bankston Funeral Home of Ozark directing.
