Harvey Earl Traylor

Harvey Earl Traylor, known affectionately as Earl, was born on January 2, 1933, in Cottonwood, Alabama. He passed away peacefully on October 20, 2023, in Dothan, Alabama. A selfless and loving man, Earl left a lasting impression on everyone he met.

Earl was born to the late Harvey Loyd Traylor and Eula Mae Love Traylor. He was the beloved brother of the late James Loyd Traylor, Christine Traylor, Dorothy Anderson. He was survived by a loving sister, Doris Johnson. Earl was a devoted father to his children, JoAnne (Mike) Tabor, Allen (Kim) Mathis, Russell (Brandi) Mathis, Judy (Jimmy) Brown, Charlotte (Culey) Ward, Barbara (Ron) Walker, and Teresa (Roy) Mason. He was predeceased by his stepchildren, Debbie Cunningham and Kenneth Ivey. Earl was a cherished grandfather and great grandfather, with special affection for Ashley (O'Neal) Harris, Chanda (Robert) Taylor, Robert (Bubba) Pickron, Annslee Hyatt, Adyson McNeil, and Hallie and Ella Kate "Little Red" Pickron.

Earl was predeceased by his companion of 40 years, Juanita Mathis. The love and companionship they shared were a testament to Earl's loving nature and his ability to form deep and lasting connections.

Earl served his country in the Army during the Korean War as a cook, a role he carried out with pride. After his military service, he worked as a dump truck driver for Couch Construction/A-Pac in Dothan, where he became a respected and well-loved member of the community until his retirement. Earl's work ethic was second to none, and he approached every task with a sense of duty and dedication.

Known lovingly as "Pops" or "Coot," Earl had a deep love for Alabama Football and the Atlanta Braves. He relished his fishing trips and cherished his visits to Biloxi with Juanita. Above all, he loved spending quality time with his grandchildren, creating memories that they will carry with them forever. Earl was also a patriotic man who loved his country and the American flag.

A special mention to his beloved dog, Gabby, his faithful companion, his special nephew, Will Johnson, and a special cousin, Jeretha Brannon who held a special place in his heart.

Earl's family extends a special thanks to Southern Care Hospice, his dedicated nurses, Rosa Brackins, Shannon Hudson and Vanita Newman, and Chaplain Kathy Stumbaugh, who provided him with exceptional care and comfort in his final days.
