MIDLAND CITY. . .Hayden Baxley, a resident of Midland City, died unexpectedly early Sunday morning, October 31, 2021, at his home. He was 30.


   Funeral services will be held at 4:00 P.M. Thursday, November 4, 2021, in the Cedar Grove Baptist Church with Pastor Randy Kuhn and Reverend Benny Cole officiating. Graveside services, with military honors, will follow in the church cemetery. Holman-Headland Mortuary & Cremations is in charge of arrangements. The family will receive friends from 2:30 until 4:00 P.M. Thursday in the church sanctuary. Social distancing and mask guidelines will be observed.


   Flowers will be accepted or memorial contributions may be made to the Wounded Warrior Project, P. O. Box 758516, Topeka, Kansas 66675-8516.


   Hayden Baxley was born and reared in Wicksburg where he graduated from Wicksburg High School and excelled in baseball. Upon graduation from high school, he enlisted in the U. S. Army and served his country as a decorated soldier in Afghanistan. Hayden was employed as the Manager of Hornsby Tire Company in Columbus, Georgia. He was a member of the Cedar Grove Baptist Church and was an avid hunter and fisherman. Hayden enjoyed all outdoor sports.


   Surviving relatives include his wife, Jessica Riley Baxley; three sons, Kadin Flippo, Brody Baxley and Bentley Baxley; his parents, Ronald J. and Brenda Fowler Baxley, Wicksburg; a sister, Tori Parsons (Davy), Nashville, TN; a brother, J. C. Baxley (Hope), Wetumpka, AL; his father-in-law and mother-in-law, Keith and Lynn Smith Riley, Midland City; several nieces and nephews; numerous close friends, military buddies, and other family members; his special canine friend, “Stella.”


   Serving as active pallbearers will be T. J. Sewell, Kade Fralish, Daniel Dartt, Joshua Mayo, Andy Smith and Willie Smith. Serving as honorary pallbearers will be Chase Mills, Roderick Matthews and Davy Parson.
