KINSEY...Haywood L. Skipper, a resident of Kinsey, died Tuesday, December 25, 2018, in a Dothan hospital. He was 89.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M. Thursday, December 27, 2018, in the Holman-Headland Mortuary Chapel with Reverend Winston Jay and Reverend Sam Williams officiating. Burial will follow in Gardens of Memory. The family will receive friends from 10:00 until 11:00 A.M. Thursday at the mortuary.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Kinsey United Methodist Church, c/o Betty Spivey, 1690 Roney Road, Kinsey, AL 36303
Mr. Skipper was born in Dale County, son of the late John Levin Skipper and Lois Snell Skipper. He served his country in the U.S. Navy shortly after World War II. Mr. Skipper lived in Kinsey most of his adult lifetime where he was an active member of the Kinsey United Methodist Church and participated in most church activities. He was retired from Trailways Bus Transportation as a Bus Driver. After retirement, Mr. Skipper was employed by Sanders Chiropractic Clinic of Dothan. He was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Peyton Pennington.
Surviving relatives include his wife, Luverne Rich Skipper; two daughters, Deborah Skipper Furqueron (George), Kinsey; and Patsy Skipper Sanders (Dr. Wallace Sanders), Dothan; two sisters, Betty Spivey, Kinsey; and Annette Cherry (Charles), Cowarts; eight grandchildren, Danny Sconyers, Brian Sconyers (Allison), Glenn Sanders, Sean Sanders, Heather Levengood (Jereme), Jeremiah Sanders, Christopher Felton, and a grandson-in-law, Mike Pennington; several great-grandchildren.
