Mrs. Helen Dyess Branch of Samson, Alabama, passed away peacefully at her residence on Tuesday, August 4, 2015.  She was 84.  Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, August 6, 2015, at New Prospect Baptist Church in Marl, Alabama, with the Reverends Danny Branch, Jr., Elbert Smith and Charles Dyess officiating.  Burial will follow in the church cemetery with Pittman Funeral Home of Geneva directing.  The family will receive friends at the funeral home in Geneva on Wednesday, August 5, 2015, from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m.  Flowers will be accepted or donations may be made to the New Prospect Baptist Church Cemetery Fund, 579 N. County Road 19, Samson, AL   36477.


Mrs. Helen Branch was born in Pike County, Alabama, on May 24, 1931, to the late Fred Henry and Sally Lou (Scarborough) Dyess.    Mrs. Branch was a faithful member of New Prospect Baptist Church, Marl, Alabama.  She worked for many years in the textile industry in Geneva County.


Miss Helen Colene Dyess married her life-long soul mate Hubert Monroe Branch on November 29, 1947.  Mr. Branch passed away on October 31, 2014, just 29 days before their 67th Wedding Anniversary.


“Miss” Helen is survived by Daughter, Janie Howell (Jerome) of Samson, AL; Son, William Fred (Billy) Branch (Virginia) of Dothan, AL; Grandsons, Jeromy Howell (Sabrina) of Alpharetta, GA; Jason Howell (Heather) of Pell City, AL; Blake Branch of Nashville, TN; and Garrett Branch of Birmingham, AL; three great grandchildren, Kaitlyn Elizabeth Howell and Brayden James Howell of Alpharetta, GA; and Kayson Alaina Howell of Pell City, Alabama.


Mrs. Branch is survived by sisters Mary Davis and Janice Crews of Samson, AL; Brothers John G. (Bill) Dyess (Barbara) of Enterprise; Ethern Gerone Dyess (Wanda) of Enterprise; Jerry William Dyess (Sara) of Monroeville, AL; Brother and Sister-in Law Dykes and Hazel Grimes of Samson, AL; and sister-in-law Carolyn Dyess of Samson, AL. Preceded in death by one brother Perry Jean Dyess; brother-in-laws Tommy Davis and Joe P. Crews; and sister-in-law Betty Jean Dyess. 


Mrs. Branch has been blessed with many loving nieces and nephews and other extended family members and special caregiver Deborah Williams.
