Mr. Herbert R. Seidl, beloved husband, father, and proud grandfather, passed away Monday, January 19, 2015 at the family residence in Enterprise.  He was 81.



 



A funeral mass with full military honors will be held Friday, January 23, 2015 at 10:00 a.m. at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church with Father Patrick Maher officiating.



 



In lieu of flowers, please make memorial donations to the St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church Building Fund.



 



Mr. Seidl was born March 10, 1933 in Triebendorf, Sudetenland.  He faithfully served his country for 27 years, including serving two tours in Vietnam.  Following his retirement from the United States Army as a Chief Warrant Officer 4, he worked as an instructor pilot at Fort Rucker for ten years.



 



He was preceded in death by his parents, Franz and Berta Jarmer Seidl, as well as two brothers, two sisters, and a granddaughter, Stephanie.



 



Survivors include his wife of 58 years, Erika Seidl of Enterprise; son, Michael Seidl (Dana) of Clifton, VA; daughter, Sylvia Ankiewicz (Duke) of Mobile, AL; 7 grandchildren: Amber (Tom), Jonathon, Matthew (Heather), Chelsea, Allison, Emily, and James; and 4 great-grandchildren. 



 



The family would also like to recognize his extended family in Brooksville, KY, who had a positive and lasting impact on his early life in America.
