PANAMA CITY BEACH, FLORIDA…Herbert William “Bill” Whitestone, Jr., a resident of Panama City Beach, Florida, died late Tuesday night, May 25, 2021. He was 73.
Graveside services, with military honors, will be held at 3:00 P.M. Friday, May 28, 2021, in Gardens of Memory, between Dothan and Headland, with Reverend Anna Tew and Reverend Joel Laseter officiating. Holman-Headland Mortuary & Cremations is in charge of arrangements. The family will receive friends following the graveside service.
Mr. Whitestone was born in Bronx, New York and reared in the Dothan area, son of the late Herbert William Whitestone, Sr. and Colley Thompson Whitestone. He served his country in the United States Army during the Vietnam War era. Mr. Whitestone earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Marketing from the University of Alabama. Helived in Panama City Beach, Florida for the past twentyyears where he and his wife, Noreen, owned and operatedVillage Interiors. In earlier years, he was affiliated with the Episcopal Church of Nativity and was a former member of the Dothan Rotary Club. One of Bill’s proudest moments was when his youngest daughter, Heather Whitestone, was selected “Miss Alabama” in 1994 and crowned “Miss America” in 1995.
Surviving relatives include his wife, Noreen Jones Whitestone; three daughters, Stacy Vera (Tom), Colorado Springs, CO; Melissa Gomillion (Tony), Pulaski, TN; and Heather McCallum (John), St. Simons, GA; two sons, Tommy Lairmore (Jennifer), Ozark; and Jack Weber (Sheila), Dothan; a brother, Bruce Whitestone (Gloria), Germantown, TN; fourteen grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
