SKIPPERVILLE…Herman Avery “Buddy” Howard, a resident of the Clopton Community of Dale County, died early Saturday morning, September 23, 2023, in the Oakview Manor Health Care & Rehab Center in Ozark. He was 82.
Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 AM, Monday, September 25, 2023, in the New Hope Baptist Church with Reverend Bill Hart and Reverend Jud Waldrop officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery with Holman-Abbeville Mortuary & Cremations directing. The family will receive friends from 10:00 AM until 11:00 AM in the church sanctuary.
Flowers will be accepted or memorial contributions may be made to New Hope Baptist Church Cemetery Fund, c/o Nancy Gast, 6349 North County Road 67, Skipperville, Alabama 36374.
Mr. Howard was born and reared in Dade County, Florida, son of the late Herman Howard, Sr. and Ruby Edna Merchant Howard. He lived in Miami before moving to the Clopton community in 1980. Mr. Howard was retired as a Crane Operator from the Berkel Company of Atlanta. He was a member of the New Hope Baptist Church. He was preceded in death by a sister, Rosalie Howard Whitmore, and a brother, Richard A. Howard.
Surviving relatives include his wife, Roberta Polumbo Howard, a resident of Oakview Manor Health Care and Rehab Center, Ozark, AL; three daughters, Kim Howard; Jill Wysocki (Mike); all of Sebastian Florida and Elanie Baldwin (Greg), Sebring, FL; three sons, William J. Polumbo (Jennifer), Skipperville, AL; Curtis L. Polumbo, Orlando, FL; and Herman Avery Howard, Woodland, CA; a sister-in-law, Gwen Chauncey, Archer, FL and her family, Newberry, FL; four grandchildren, Nicholas Oreto (Jenna), Kelsey Baldwin, Aaron Polumbo (Chelsey), and Hayden Polumbo (Emily) and two great-grandchildren, Josie Claire Polumbo and Aiden Oreto.
