OZARK…Herman Glenn Brown, Sr., a resident of Ozark, died early Tuesday morning, November 3, 2020, in a Dothan Hospital. He was 83.

Graveside services will be held at 2:00 P.M. Friday, November 6, 2020, at Memory Hill Cemetery, Dothan, with Pastor Jerry Walker officiating. Holman-Headland Mortuary & Cremations is in charge of arrangements. The family will receive friends following the graveside service. Social distancing and mask guidelines will be observed.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 262 Danny Thomas Place, Memphis, TN 38105.

Mr. Brown was born in McComb, Mississippi, son of the late Acey Herman and Belle Moak Brown. He served his country in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. While stationed at Fort Rucker, he met the love of his life, June Davis, and they were married in 1958. After a short stay in New Orleans, they settled in Dothan where they raised their four children. He moved his family to Houston in 1982 and returned to Alabama in 1996, settling in Ozark.

Mr. Brown was a self-employed building contractor for more than 36 years before joining Pointe Wiregrass in Dothan as a building manager. He retired in 2007. Mr. Brown was a member of the Ozark Baptist Church. He was preceded in death by his son, James Webster Brown, and two brothers, Tommy Brown and Bobby Jo Brown.

Mr. Brown never met a stranger, was always ready to lend a hand and was loved by everyone who knew him. He woke every morning with a “Hello, Beautiful” to his wife, and was always happy to see his children. He was an excellent marksman, made the best chocolate and peanut candy and laughed often. His grandchildren, whom he loved dearly, were his greatest treasure. He will be sorely missed.

Surviving relatives include his wife, June Davis Brown; two daughters, Liz Martin (Danny), Ozark; and Nancy Dunham (Jim), Sugar Land, TX; two sons, Buddy Brown, Ozark; and Daniel Brown (fiancé, Tanya Cormier), Houston, TX; three grandchildren, Davis Dunham, Grace Dunham and Bradley Brown; several nieces and nephews, including a special niece, Sheila Baker, Pearl, MS.
