Hilda Rebecca Hughes Church, 74, died Thursday, May 18 following a brief illness.
Services for Mrs. Church will be Sunday at 3:00 P.M. at First United Methodist Church of Dothan with the Reverends Wes Kelley and Allie Freeman officiating. Visitation will be at 2:00 in the church parlor. Burial will follow at Dothan City Cemetery.
Mrs. Church, the third child of Sara Lanier Hughes and Troy Grady Hughes, was born in Hartford. She attended Geneva County High School and graduated from The University of Alabama with a degree in Elementary Education. She was a member of Alpha Gamma Delta Sorority.
Mrs. Church married William Fenn Church in 1963 and moved to Dothan where they enjoyed 53 years of marriage. She was an active member of First United Methodist Church of Dothan for 53 years. Mrs. Church enjoyed being an active member of several social and civic organizations, giving her time freely for the betterment of others.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her brother and sister-in-law, Grady Lanier (Betty) Hughes, and a brother-in-law Chandler F. Cox.
She is survived by her husband, William Fenn Church, three sons, Grady Fenn (Susanne) Church of Birmingham, William Lanier (Gardiner) Church of Auburn, and Randolph Trammell (Abby) Church of Dothan; five grandchildren, Emily Banks Church, Margaret Glenn Church, Randolph Trammell Church Jr, Eleanor Hughes Church, and Sara Lanier Church; one sister, Sara Margaret Cox of Geneva, one brother, William Albert (Betty) Hughes of Tuscaloosa, one brother-in-law, Charles Randolph (Sharon) Church III of Dothan, and several nieces and nephews.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to The C.R. (Pop) Church Rose Garden of First United Methodist Church of Dothan or Wesley Chapel Methodist Church of Hartford, Alabama, 4844 County Road 41, Hartford, AL 36344.
