Mr. Hilliard Thomas (H.T.) Martin Jr. of Dothan died Tuesday, November 22, 2011, at the Southeast Alabama Medical Center. He was 88.
Funeral services will be held at 2 P.M. Monday, November 28, 2011, at the Ward Wilson Funeral Home Chapel with Reverend Robert Yawn officiating. Burial will follow in Selma Baptist Church Cemetery with Ward Wilson Funeral Home directing.
The family will be receiving friends at the funeral home from 1 to 2 P.M. Monday, November 28, 2011, one hour prior to the service. Flowers will be accepted or memorials may be made to Cloverdale United Methodist Church or Dothan Botanical Gardens.
Mr. Martin was a 1942 graduate of Rehobeth High School, participated in sports and was president of the Sr. Class. He served three years in the old Army Air Corps in the Southwest Pacific, flying 27 missions over Japan. He was awarded the Distinguished Flying Cross, the Air Medal with three Oak Leaf Clusters, the Asiatic-Pacific Battle Ribbon with three battle stars, Good Conduct Medal, Victory Medal, the American Theater Campaign Medal, the Meritorious Service Ribbon, Longevity Service Ribbon with two X bars by the Air Force Reserves.Mr. Martin is a member of Cloverdale Methodist Church, and ex-chairman of the Official Board.
Mr. Martin was preceded in death by his wife, Arlee Scott Martin, five brothers, Robert L., Louie, Roy, Floyd, and Arthur Martin, and one sister, Lounette Halstead.
Survivors include one daughter, Linda Ivey and her husband, Richard of Dothan; two grandchildren, Rich Ivey of Auburn; Hillary Ivey of Dothan; one sister, Nellie Fay (Nell) Collins and her husband, Don, and many nieces and nephews.
