Hobson Watson, 89, of Enterprise, went to be with his Lord and Savior, August 24, 2016, at home.

Funeral will be Friday, August 26, 2016, at 11:00 a.m. at First Baptist Church of Enterprise with the Rev. Steve Watson and the Rev. Ben Bowden officiating. Burial will follow in Meadowlawn Cemetery with Searcy Funeral Home directing. The family will receive guests at the church from 9:30 a.m. until service time.  In lieu of flowers the family requests donations to the Enterprise Rescue Squad, PO Box 311190, Enterprise, AL 36331 or to County Line Baptist Church Building Fund, 1000 Highway 92, Enterprise, AL 36330.

Hob graduated from Auburn University in 1950 with a degree in business.

He served in both the United States Army and the United States Navy and was retired from Metropolitan Life Insurance Company.

The Ten Commandments were Hob’s guiding life principles. He was raised in a Christian home and grew up a dedicated Christian. He was a faithful member of First Baptist Church of Enterprise his entire life and served in a variety of roles. Hob was a long-time secretary of the 5th grade Sunday School class. He loved visiting with the children and getting to know them. He also served for many years as a deacon, and until just a few years ago, enjoyed taking up offering and serving as a greeter. You could find him most every Sunday morning greeting members and visitors with a smile, a kind word, and a church bulletin. He spent many years going early one Sunday morning each month to help many of his friends cook for the church’s Brotherhood men’s breakfast. Hob loved his church and church family and he spent his life working for the Lord.

Most Sunday afternoons and a few afternoons each week you would find Hob at the Enterprise Country Club playing golf with wonderful friends such as Dan Pittman, Joe Harris, Bartow Bevis and Rex Redd. He was a founding member of the original Enterprise Country Club and cherished the friendships he formed playing golf.

For many years Hob enjoyed volunteering with the Christian Mission delivering meals to shut-ins. He looked forward to spending time with them each week and took much joy from those he befriended during this time.

Hob is preceded in death by his parents, Hobson Watson, Sr. and Edna (Martin) Watson. Survivors include his wife of 66 years, Marjorie (Moore) Watson; three children, Greg (Lynne) Watson, and Gary (Mary) Watson, both of Enterprise, and Gina (Brent) Reynolds of Lakeland, FL; two grandchildren, Olivia Reynolds and Cooper Reynolds, both of Lakeland, FL; a brother, Dr. Joe S.  Watson of Enterprise and many nieces, nephews and cousins.

Hob’s family would like to extend sincere appreciation for all the love and support shown during his illness by the Southern Care Hospice. Special appreciation goes to Sherri Hughes and Tasha Cunningham for the love and compassion they extended to Hob and his family.
