ARLINGTON, TEXAS. . .Homer Lee “Bo” Hamilton, a resident of Arlington, Texas, formerly of Abbeville, died early Thursday afternoon, September 5, 2019, at his home. He was 83.


     Funeral services will be held at 2:00 P.M. Tuesday, September 10, 2019, in the Union Free Will Baptist Church, near Abbeville, with Linda McConnico and Reverend Joey Hudspeth officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Holman-Abbeville Mortuary & Cremations is in charge of arrangements. The family will receive friends from 1:00 until 2:00 P.M. Tuesday in the church sanctuary.


     Mr. Hamilton was born and reared in Henry County, son of the late Emory Slaton Hamilton and Dorothy Laura Stokes Hamilton.  He served his country in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. He lived in Abbeville for many years before moving to Arlington in 1974. Mr. Hamilton later moved to Holiday Island, Arkansas where he lived for several years before he returned to Arlington in 2010. He was a member of the Holiday Island Baptist Church. Mr. Hamilton was retired from WestPoint Stevens in Grand Prairie, Texas and formerly worked at WestPoint Stevens in Abbeville. In earlier years, he served as a Deacon in the Union Free Will Baptist Church, was a member of the Henry Masonic Lodge No. 91 in Abbeville and also was a founding member of the Abbeville Rescue Squad. Mr. Hamilton was preceded in death by a son, Timothy Slaton Hamilton.


     Surviving relatives include his wife, Jo Malone Hamilton, two daughters, Laura Barnett (Rhonda Griffin), and Susie Fisher (Freddy), all of Arlington, Texas; a sister, Teenie Hendley, Abbeville; four grandchildren, Trevor Smith (Katie), Katie Jo Otwell, Bryan Smith (Chloe), and Danyelle Fredrickson (Chris); six great-grandchildren.


     Serving as active pallbearers will be David Malone, Trevor Smith, Bryan Smith, Clinton Lee, Freddy Fisher and Bill Hendley. Serving as a special honorary pallbearer will be Olan McConnico.
