Horace E. Snell, Jr., a resident of Headland, died early Saturday afternoon, February 28, 2015, in a Dothan hospital. He was 68.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 P.M Monday, March 2, 2015, in the Holman-Headland Mortuary Chapel with Reverend Ross Kilpatrick and Reverend Marquis Wingard officiating. Burial will follow in the Brown’s United Methodist Church Cemetery, near Echo. The family will receive friends from 1:00 until 2:00 P.M. Monday at the mortuary in Headland.
Flowers will be accepted or memorial contributions may be made to the Brown’s United Methodist Church Cemetery Fund, c/o Wanda Wright, 713 Frankfort Drive, Dothan, AL 36305.
Horace E. Snell, Jr. was born and reared in the Brown’s community, near Echo, son of the late Horace Edgar Snell, Sr. and Ruby Spivey Snell. He was a 1965 graduate of Carroll High School in Ozark. In earlier years, Horace attended Brown’s United Methodist Church. He was retired from Houston Printing Company of Dothan. Horace was formerly employed as the Supervisor of commercial printing with the Dothan Progress and Headland Observer. He had also been employed by the Southern Star in Ozark. Horace was preceded in death by his wife, Joyce Woodham Snell.
Surviving relatives include two daughters, Terri Deaton (Donny), and Mandie Snell Wright (Doug), and a son, Mark E. White, all of Abbeville; eight sisters, Jean Griggs, Leota Miller, Delane Blackburn, all of Ozark; Martha Burroughs (Bern), Ohio; Betty Cochran, Echo Community; June Smith (David), Troy; Wanda Wright (Larry), Dothan; and Melba Cox (Hal), Ozark; a brother, Mike Snell (Vicki), Ozark; five grandchildren, Justin Snell (Shannika), Jessica Smith (Thomas), Rex Allen White, Seth Wright, and Shelby Wright; three great-grandchildren.
