Horace Riley, 85, of Dothan passed away Thursday, September 6, 2012 at a local hospital.
Funeral services will be 11 am Monday, September 10, 2012 at Sunset Funeral home with Rev. Bill Bastien and Rev. Tommy White officiating. Burial with military honors will follow in Sunset Memorial Park with Robert Byrd directing. The family will receive friends from 10-11 am prior to the service at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to Pathway Baptist Church, 3551 Flowers Chapel Rd., Dothan, AL, 36305.
Mr. Riley was born May 19, 1927 in Jackson County, FL and lived the early part of his life in Chipley. He joined the U.S. Army at an early age and was a veteran of WWII and the Korean War retiring after 21 years of active duty. He later worked at Ft. Rucker in civil service for over 20 years until his retirement in 1988. Horace resided in Ozark for several years prior to moving to Dothan in 1977. He was a member of Pathway Baptist Church. He was preceded in death by his brother, Harold Riley.
Survivors include his wife Yvonne K. Riley; sons, Stan (Deborah) Riley, Ken Riley, and Shawn (Gina) Riley; a daughter Alicia (Jeff) Wiggin; step-sons, Jerry (Robin) Justice and Chris (Connie) Justice; a step-daughter Karen Richards; 22 grandchildren and several great-grandchildren; brothers, Herman (Peggy) Riley, Herschel (Nellie) Riley, and Hertis (Carolyn) Riley; sisters, Helen (Fritz) Rice and Judy (Ike) Cathcart; a sister-in-law Peggy Riley; several nieces and nephews also survive.
