HOWARD SHELDON HOLLAND
HEADLAND, AL… Howard Sheldon Holland, a resident of Headland, Alabama, passed away Saturday morning, May 20, 2023, at his home. He was 76.
Celebration of Life Services will be 6:00 P.M. Tuesday May 23, 2023 at First Baptist Church-Headland Worship Center with Dr. Cecil Sanders, Jr. and Reverend Tim McCraney officiating. The family will receive friends from 4:00 P.M. to 6:00 P.M. prior to the service. Wright Funeral Home & Crematory is in charge of the arrangements.
Mr. Holland was born at home in Cottonwood, Alabama to the late Eurlee Holland and Pauline Hall Holland. He was a 1965 graduate of Cottonwood High School. He was a student in the first classes at Wallace Community College and continued to further his education at Troy University. He was employed as a teacher and coach and started in Headland in the 1976-1977 year, when he and his wife Judy moved to the area. He was a member of the Marathon Breakfast Club as well as honored in the Wiregrass Sports Hall of Fame. He enjoyed sports, hunting and fishing. He attended First Baptist Church-Headland.
In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by three brothers, Talmadge Holland, Eulan Holland and Drexil Holland.
Leaving to cherish his memories are his wife, Judy Hall Holland; his two daughters, Heather Wilcox (Mark) and Holli Grace (Clay); his three grandchildren, Shelli Solomon (Carey), Sheldon Grace (Makayla Delvecchio), Raylee Grace; his great-granddaughter, Elli Solomon; his mother-in-law, Carolyn Hall; his sister-in-law, Patricia “Pat” Holland; and his several nieces and nephews.
Serving as honorary pallbearers will be his former assistant coaches and former players that coached and played for him over his tenure as a coach.
