Hubert “Hugh” A. Meade, age 73, of Enterprise, Alabama passed away on Monday, November 8, 2021.


Hugh was born July 7, 1948 in Coeburn, VA to the late Sidney Allen and Anna Marie Meade; and was a 1966 graduate of Coeburn High School.


Hugh was a devoted husband to his wife and best friend, Eva Meade for 33 years.


Hugh served 24 years in the Armed Forces, ten years of which were in the United States Marine Corps and included two tours to Vietnam.  He was honorably discharged from the Marines as an E-7 Gunnery Sergeant and then served in the United States Army until his retirement as a 1SG E-8 in 1991.  Hugh was the recipient of the Meritorious Service Medal among many others during his military career.


Following his retirement from the military, Hugh and his wife Eva opened their own real estate company, Meade and Associates, where he successfully served as the broker for 20 years.  During that time, He also served as the Chairman of the Enterprise Chamber of Commerce and President of the Enterprise Board of Realtors.


Hugh was a loving husband, an amazing father, and a devoted “Grand” Papa.  His passing has left a giant hole in the lives of everyone that loved him.


He is survived by his wife, Eva Meade of Enterprise, Alabama; daughter, Desserra Ewing and her husband Ron of Sasebo, Japan; son, Scott Meade and his wife Lisa of Abingdon, Virginia; daughter Cindy Mullen of Panama City Beach, Florida; sister Carolyn Bales and her husband Larry of Abingdon, Virginia; brother Ronnie Meade and his wife Teresa of Abingdon, Virginia; as well as six grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.


The burial, with military honors, will take place at Barrancas National Cemetery in Pensacola, Florida on Thursday, November 18, 2021, at 2:00 p.m.
