HUBERT  WALLACE  BROWN

EDWIN COMMUNITY. . .Hubert Wallace (Pete) Brown, a resident of the Edwin Community of Henry County, died early Saturday morning, January 7, 2012, in a Dothan hospital. He was 84.

           

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M. Monday, January 9, 2012, in the Edwin United Methodist Church with Reverend Kenneth Preston officiating. Burial will follow in the Edwin Cemetery. Holman-Abbeville Mortuary is in charge of funeral arrangements. The family will receive friends from 3:00 until 5:00 P. M. Sunday at the mortuary in Abbeville.

           

In lieu of flowers,  memorial contributions may be made to the Edwin United Methodist Church, c/o Polly Covington, 105 McSwean Drive, Abbeville, AL 36310.
           

Mr. Brown was born in Barbour County, but was reared in Edwin, son of the late Ira Hubert Brown and Maedell White Brown. He served his country in the U. S. Navy during World War II. Mr. Brown formerly lived in Vega, Texas before returning to Edwin where he lived most of his lifetime. He was an active member of the Edwin United Methodist Church and the Men’s Club of the church. Mr. Brown was retired from E & W Building Materials in Headland as a carpenter in the door shop. In earlier yeas, he was employed as a carpenter in residential construction.

           

Surviving relatives include his wife, Betty Trawick Brown, Edwin; three daughters, Guenda Brown Woodham and husband, Gene, Lake Eufaula; Cindy Brown Jackson and husband, Pat, Pensacola, FL; and Sheri Brown Marr and husband, David, Headland; a sister, Marjorie Pearce, Ft. Worth, TX; two brothers, Maxwell Brown and wife, Dean, Mobile, AL; and Robert Earl Brown and wife, Nancy, Jackson, MS; five grandchildren, Kevin Woodham (Kelly), Justin Woodham, Jimmy Norton, Jessica Wingate (Ashley), Nicole Fennell (Cody); five great-grandchildren, Trent Wingate, Anna Claire Wingate, Preston Fennell, Brinley Woodham and Taylor Norton; several nieces and nephews including a special niece, Ann Hauss and husband, Larry, Columbia, AL.

           

Serving as active and honorary pallbearers will be the men of the Edwin United Methodist Church.
