Hugh Alton Boyd, Jr., a resident of Dothan, Alabama passed away on Thursday, April 11, 2019 at his residence. He was 88.

Graveside service with military honors will be held 11 am Thursday, April 18, 2019 in Sunset Memorial Park with Rev. Robert Lee officiating and Sunset Funeral Home directing.

Mr. Boyd was born on September 6, 1930 in Birmingham, Alabama to Hugh Alton Boyd, Sr. and Mildred Boyd. He considered his hometown to be McComb, MS. Alton married Janice Cain and they were married for 65 years until her death in December 2016. In 1961, they moved to Dothan where he worked for many years at HumRRO at Fort Rucker. Later, he worked for United Federal S & L and taught psychology at Wallace Community College. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, boating, bird watching, plant identification and just being outdoors. He was also interested in all things related to the Civil War and enjoyed going to the various battlefields. Alton also liked collecting antiques and loved music, especially big band, swing and blues.
