Hugh Wilson Raley, a resident of Dothan, passed away on Saturday, September 16, 2017 at a local hospital. He was 79 years old.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday, September 19, 2017 at Bethel Baptist Church with Dr. Ricky Plummer officiating. Burial with military honors will follow in Sunset Memorial Park with Robert Byrd directing. The family will receive friends from 12-2:00 p.m. prior to the service at the church. Flowers are being accepted or memorial donations may be made to Bethel Baptist Church, 3257 E. Cottonwood Road, Dothan, AL 36301, or to GIST Cancer Research Fund, 3905 NE 167th Street, North Miami Beach, FL 33160.

Mr. Raley was born June 13, 1938 in Headland, AL and lived the early part of his life there. He was a graduate of Mitchell County High School and served in the U.S. Air Force for 4 years. He was later employed with the U.S. Postal Service where he worked in Nashville, TN and Savannah, GA prior to working at the Dothan Main Branch. He served with the postal service for over 35 years until his retirement in 2003. Mr. Raley loved to write music, play the harmonica, sketch and draw, and of course never met a stranger. He was a member of Bethel Baptist Church where he was a member of the choir and Senior Adult Ministries.

Survivors include his wife of 55 years, Katie Raley; sons, Jason (Christy) Raley and Chris (Amanda) Raley; daughter, Cindy Peoples; grandchildren, Anna Peoples, Heather Wood, Amber Bryant, Cole Raley, Emmalee Raley, Graysen Raley, and Hadlee Raley; great-grandchildren, Jessa Foreman, Kayden Martin, Adelyn Bryant, Celia Wood, and Declan Bryant; brothers, Jackson (Paula) Raley and Parker (Julie) Raley; sister-in-law, Barbara Meeks; several nieces and nephews.
