Hulon J. Roney of Samson (Marl Community) passed away Monday, May 14, 2018 at his home. He was 87 years old.
Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Thursday, May 17, 2018 in the chapel of Warren Holloway Ward Funeral Home in Geneva with Rev. Elbert Smith officiating. Burial will follow at Sunset Memorial Gardens Cemetery with Warren Holloway Ward Funeral Home of Geneva directing. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Wednesday, May 16, 2018 from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m.
The family request that flowers be omitted and memorial contributions be made to New Prospect Baptist Church (Marl Community), 579 North County Rd 19, Samson, AL 36477.
Mr. Roney was born on October 29, 1930 to the late Barney and Mamie Riley Roney. Mr. Roney loved anything outdoors, especially farming, fishing, and hunting. His true love was spending time with his family and being a part of the “Men’s Club” at Harry Wilson Store.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his loving wife of 56 years, Jimmie Nella Roney; two brothers, Joe and Ray Roney; one sister, Bernice Owen.
He is survived by one daughter, Linda R. King (David) of Samson; two sons, Guy Roney (Genita Drury) of Samson, and Ernie Roney (Tonya) of Geneva; seven grandchildren, Drew Roney (Ally), Casey Ward (Hagler), Erica Murrary (Nathan), Dustin Roney (Connie), Katie Warren (Lyle), Kristin Roney (Tony Windham), and Jamison Roney (Madeline McClaran); seven great-grandchildren, Kaden Ward, Thomas Roney, Sophia Roney, Klaire Ward, Amelia Roney, Tucker Warren, and Tyce Warren; and many special nieces and nephews.
The family would like to thank Kindred Hospice, Cathryn Jones, Mary Lewis, Scott McCoy, and all of his friends at Harry Wilson Store for their devoted love and care.
