Ida Ruth Jowers, 84 of Dothan died December 14, 2011 in Panama City Beach Florida.

Funeral services will be 11:00 am Saturday, December 17, 2011 at Sunset Funeral Home with Rev. Ray Jones officiating. Burial will follow in Sunset Memorial Park with Robert Byrd directing. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 10 am until 11 am Saturday. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Ridgecrest Baptist Church, Dothan, Alabama or to Covenant Hospice of Panama City Beach, Florida.

Mrs. Jowers was born May 13, 1927 in Wilmington, North Carolina. She resided the early years of her life there until her family moved to Godwin, NC where she remained until her marriage in 1948. She lived in the Dothan area for the past twenty-five years. Mrs. Jowers was a homemaker and an active member of Ridgecrest Baptist Church.

Survivors include her daughter, Linda Jowers Lease, Panama City Beach, Florida; her brother, Matthew Scoggins, Memphis, TN; her brothers and sisters-in-law Tommy and Lena Fowler of Graceville, FL, Shirley and Harold Parker of Opp, AL, and Addie Jowers of Enterprise, AL. She was blessed to have numerous nieces and nephews she loved dearly. Those who were present in her last months to provide care and comfort to her include Shelba Jones of Atlanta, GA, Carol McDaniel of Grand Mills, MD, and Janie Carter of Godwin, NC.

Serving as pallbearers will be her nephews Bob Jones of Atlanta, GA, Jimmy McDaniel of Atlanta, GA, Fred McDaniel of Godwin, NC, Michael Jowers of Dothan, AL, Dennis Jowers of Enterprise, AL, and Gerald Jowers of Enterprise, AL.
