Ilona Grace Trawick Jackson, 80, of Daleville, AL., completed her life on this earth while surrounded by her children in Tampa, FL on the morning of Tuesday, July 25th, 2023, after a brief illness. A memorial service to celebrate her life will be held in Daleville at Searcy Funeral Home on Saturday, August 19th, 2023 at 11:00 AM.

Ilona was born to Elmer and Lola Mae Trawick on May 3rd, 1943, in Columbus, GA. Elmer was a farmer and Lola Mae was a homemaker. Lola Mae died just before Ilona’s 3rd birthday. Ilona grew up and worked in the Dothan area where she met and married Teddy. They were married for 60 years.

She is predeceased by her husband, her father and mother, her stepmother Dessie, and her brothers, Jimmy, Randy, Zolan, and Olan.

She is survived by her sisters, Dean and Joann, her brother Buddy; three children, Jerome (Pam), Lamar (Shanna), and Sharon (Jason). She is also survived by her grandchildren, Ashley (Joe), Victoria (Tyler), Haley (Collin), Madison, and Cana. She was “GG” to her great-grandchildren,  Kirstyn, Lilah, Zoey, and Oliver. She was stepmother to Debbie, David, and Christina.

She is also survived by her loving chihuahua, Baby Girl, and her mixed-breed Milo.

She was a rescuer. She took in anyone or anything that needed help. She brought in the sick and suffering and gave them a chance to recover and relax. She was the absolute rock of the family. She surrounded herself and others with comfort. She loved cool shoes, soft blankets, her iPad, connecting with others on social media, and her dogs. She was a dedicated wife and a wonderful mother who always had time to listen and give advice.

She worked in a factory, waited tables, worked in a mess hall, ran convenience stores, drove a tractor-trailer to California once a week for over 20 years, and drove a school bus.

Ilona cherished her friendships, of which she had many. She will be missed by all.
