Robert "Bob" Cardinal Goree (1955-2023) passed away on May 21, 2023, after facing the challenges of ALS with courage balanced with a good bit of humor and love of life. After four years enlisted in the Air Force, Bob dedicated 30 years to the National Weather Service, leaving an indelible impact on the field of meteorology. Known for his unwavering commitment and expertise, he played a vital role in enhancing weather preparedness and served as a key liaison with the State of Florida Emergency Management.

From his early years in Forest City, FL, Bob found solace in solitude and nature, embarking on countless outdoor adventures. He sought refuge atop trees and developed a deep appreciation for the world through his avid exploration of shortwave radio, which sparked his interest in global politics. Bob's passion for baseball was evident as he played a pivotal role in Roswell High School's success, contributing to winning two state championships. He always emphasized that "baseball is a way of life," showcasing his enduring love for the sport. Go Rays!

Throughout his career, Bob's quiet determination pushed him to step outside his comfort zone. Overcoming his shyness, he volunteered for speaking engagements and honed his public speaking skills, ultimately becoming an accomplished and respected communicator.

Bob's legacy extends beyond his professional achievements. He was a big music fan - blues, jazz, rock and beyond. He often told the story of going to see Bill Wharton (Sauce Boss) with Jane and their son, Neal, in the womb. All this rubbed off on Neal who is an accomplished and revered guitarist in Tallahassee. It must’ve infected Hannah as well as she is an avid music fan and loves all the music festivals in North Florida.

Throughout his life, he played and loved sports especially fishing with his family, golf and tennis. About two years ago, as he was aggressively working on his tennis game, he noticed some weakness and he was losing weight. He was diagnosed with ALS March 2022.
