Inez Sewell Hagler, a resident of Kinsey, died Saturday morning, May 30, 2015, in a Dothan hospital. She was 74.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 P.M. Tuesday, June 2, 2015, in the Kinsey Baptist Church with Reverend Brad Hardy and Mrs. Marilyn Adams officiating. Burial will follow in Gardens of Memory. Holman-Headland Mortuary & Cremations is in charge of arrangements. The family will receive friends from 4:00 until 7:00 P.M. Monday in the sanctuary of the Kinsey Baptist Church.
Flowers will be accepted or memorial contributions may be made to the Kinsey Baptist Church “Van Fund”, 6745 Walden Drive, Kinsey, AL 36303.
Mrs. Hagler was born in Blue Springs and reared in Headland, daughter of the late Thomas Morris Sewell, Jr. and Nora Ruth Key Sewell. She was a 1959 graduate of Headland High School and attended Wallace Community College. Mrs. Hagler was an active member of the Kinsey Baptist Church where she served as Treasurer, taught the Peacemakers Sunday School Class, served as Director of the XYZ, and was a member of the church choir, along with most other activities in the church. She served as a volunteer at “Thee Mission” at the Columbia Baptist Association and participated in the Kinsey Senior Center.
Mrs. Hagler was retired as Office Manager from Dothan Chrysler Dodge Jeep Ram. In earlier years, she was employed by Miles Ford Tractor Company and the Donald E. Smith Well Drilling Company. Mrs. Hagler was preceded in death by her husband, Willie Vinson Hagler, a son, John Lynn Hagler, son-in-law, Mike Towns, and a sister, Pamela Sue Sewell.
Surviving relatives include a daughter, Lisa Hagler Towns, Columbia; a son, Norman Hagler (Kendra), Headland; two sisters, Glenda Woodham (Mac), Headland; and Judy Wilson (Roy), Abbeville; four grandchildren, Joshua Towns (Katie), Caleb Towns (Jordan), Matthew Towns (Amber), and Brooke Hagler; four great-grandchildren, Parker Towns, Emma Claire Towns, Grayson Towns and Micah Jo Towns; a sister-in-law, Nell Moore (Sam), brothers-in-law Virgil Hagler (Gladys), Charles Hall, and Bill Doswell; several nieces and nephews.
Serving as active pallbearers will be Greg Wilson, Woody Peters, Dino Velazquez, Matt Milanowski, Michael Douglas, M.C. Douglas and Phillip Douglas.
