Irene Beasley Abernathy passed away peacefully June 16, 2015 at her home. She was 90 years old.
Funeral services will be held Friday, June 19, 2015 at 11:00 A.M., at Searcy Funeral Home and Crematory Chapel with Reverend Tonya Elmore and Pastor Ben Bowden officiating. Burial will follow in Meadowlawn Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 10:00 AM until service time at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the First United Methodist Church.
Irene was born November 14, 1924 in Coosa County to the late Mr. and Mrs. Leonard Charles Beasley. Upon moving with her family to Enterprise in 1956, she became Secretary for the United Methodist Church, later working for Paschal Dairy, then taking a job with Civil Service. She and her late husband, Robert T. Abernathy, both worked and retired from Ft. Rucker, AL.
Irene was a loving mother, doting grandmother, never missing birthdays and Christmas’s.
In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by her grandson, Thad Timmons Abernathy, brothers, Lois and Bill Beasley.
Survivors include her daughter and son-in-law, Bobbie A. and Jack Harrison; son, Charles T. Abernathy (Kathy Day); four grandchildren, Gregory Shane Harrison (Cindy); Gabriel Boyd Abernathy; Kamela Harrison Speigner (Scott); five great-grandchildren, Robert Harrison (Caitlyn); Sara Page Harrison; Keely Shea Speigner all of Enterprise; Reilly Kaelin Abernathy and Griffin Timmons Abernathy of Hoover, AL; one great-great-grandson, Lucas Wyatt Harrison, Enterprise; brother-in-law, Thomas Cleveland; several nephews and nieces.
Serving as pallbearers will be Shane Harrison, Robert Harrison, Scott Speigner, Rodney Beasley, Ken Abernathy and Gabriel Abernathy.
Special thanks to Renee Owens, Maggie Arrenando, Gabriel Abernathy and Covenant Hospice for their support and compassionate care.
