HEADLAND. . .Iris Christian Heady, a resident of Headland, died late Saturday afternoon, January 16, 2016, at her home. She was 78.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM Wednesday, January 20, 2016, in the Holman-Headland Mortuary Chapel with Dr. Bradley Rushing officiating. Burial will follow in Sunset Memorial Park, Barrington Road, Midland City. The family will receive friends from 1:00 until 2:00 P.M. Wednesday at the mortuary.
Flowers will be accepted or memorial contributions may be made to Covenant Care, 1512 West Main Street, Dothan, AL 36301.
Mrs. Heady was born and reared in Bandana, Kentucky, daughter of the late Guy Lewis Christian and Jessie Powell Christian. She lived most of her lifetime in Bandana and also lived in Taylor, Alabama before moving to Headland in 2005. She was a member of the Bandana Baptist Church and was affiliated with the Mt. Gilead Baptist Church. Mrs. Heady was preceded in death by her husband, Milton Heady, a sister, Bettye Davis, and a brother, Bill Christian.
Surviving relatives include a daughter, Elizabeth Diane Harrell (Stephen), Headland; two grandchildren, Guy Harrell (Megan), and Stacey Harrell; four great-grandchildren, Shelby Hudspeth (Corey), Aubrey Harrell, Brinley Harrell, and Logan Guy Harrell.
Serving as active pallbearers will be Pat Rairigh, Guy Harrell, Guy Shelton, L. G. Shelton, Jeff Mauldin, and Bobby Selman.
The family would like to express their appreciation Covenant Hospice and Dr. Melanie Nicholls for their loving care and kindness shown to Mrs. Heady during her illness and also to Dr. Chris Strunk and Dr. Paola Bass for their care.
