Iris Hamm Money, a resident of Headland, died late Wednesday afternoon, March 1, 2017, in Westside Terrace. She was 85.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M. Saturday, March 4, 2017, in the Bethlehem Baptist Church with Reverend Ricky Sowell and Brother Joe Watson officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Holman-Headland Mortuary & Cremations is in charge of arrangements. The family will receive friends from 10:00 until 11:00 A.M. Saturday in the church sanctuary.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Bethlehem Baptist Church Building Fund, 2506 State Highway 134, East, Headland, AL 36345.
Mrs. Money was a lifelong resident of the Bethlehem community, near Headland, daughter of the late Whit Talmadge Hamm and Lessie Whiddon Hamm. She was a member of the Bethlehem Baptist Church where she formerly taught Sunday School and Vacation Bible School. Mrs. Money was also active in the W.M.U., and sang in the church choir. She retired from GTE as a Customer Service Representative after twenty-five years employment. Mrs. Money was preceded in death by her husband, Lafayette Money, two sons, Perry and Jeffery Money, four sisters and a brother.
Surviving relatives include a daughter, Judy Money Walding (Kenny), Headland; three grandchildren, Amanda Banner (Dan), Dr. Jeff Walding (Dr. Anna Walding), and Keisha Brazell (Landon); six great-grandchildren, Brayden, Roman and Rylan Banner, River, Waverly and Ezra Walding; a special cousin, Melba Hatcher McQuain.
Serving as active pallbearers will be Richard Money, Steve Money, Shane Money, Chris Money, Brock McQuain, Ray McQuain, Mark Jones and Jim Robbins.
