PINCKARD, ALABAMA. . .Irma Sue Monk Mizell, a resident of Pinckard, died Monday afternoon, March 11, 2024, in the Marietta Life Center, Marietta, Georgia. She was 82.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M. Saturday, March 16, 2024, in the Mt. Hebron Methodist Church with Reverend Jody Haddan and Reverend Woody Farrington officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Holman-Headland Mortuary & Cremations is in charge of arrangements. The family will receive friends from 10:00 until 11:00 A.M. Saturday in the church sanctuary.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Camp Victory, 363 Victory Circle, Samson, AL 36477 or Gideons International, Ozark Camp, P.O. Box 291, Ozark, AL 36360.
Mrs. Mizell was born and reared in Pinckard, daughter of the late Everett Monk and Sallie Mae Campbell Monk. She was a graduate of Midland City High School. Mrs. Mizell lived in Beverly Hills, Florida and Park City, Utah before returning to Pinckard in 1996. Mrs. Mizell was retired from the Homosassa Springs, Florida Post Office as Assistant Postmaster. In earlier years, she worked at the Dothan Post Office as an assistant to the Postal Inspector. Mrs. Mizell was a member of Calvary Baptist Church in Dothan and was active at Camp Victory through Release Time Ministry. She formerly played the piano at Pinckard Baptist Church, Pinckard Methodist Church and Westside Terrace in Dothan. Mrs. Mizell was preceded in death by her husband, Charles Vinson Mizell.
Surviving relatives include a daughter, Amy Mizell Richardson, Dothan; two sons, Vince Mizell (Charity), Town Creek, AL; and Brad Mizell (Kim), Marietta, GA; a sister-in-law, Elma Ruth Mizell, Abbeville; grandchildren, Alicia Earley (Craig), Jessica Blanchard (Michael), Lauren Mizell, Braden Mizell, Jed Haddan, Joanna Haddan and John Mark Haddan; three great-grandchildren, Isla Earley, Owen Earley and Annie Blanchard; and her companion and friend, Ted Ball.
