A celebration of Jack’s life will be held at 11 am on Wednesday, March 29, 2023 at Westwood Presbyterian Church with Pastor David Temples officiating. The family will receive friends at the church on Wednesday from 10-11 am. In lieu of flowers the family requests that memorial contributions be made to the Michael J. Fox Foundation for Parkinson’s Research, give.michaeljfox.org.
It is with heavy hearts that the family of Jack Buckley wishes to announce his passing on Friday, March 24, 2023. He was 84 years old.
Jack was born on January 23, 1939 in Sac City, Iowa to the late Earl and Christina Thau Buckley and lived there the early years of his life. He graduated from Sac City High School and attended Buena Vista University and Palm Beach Atlantic University where he received his Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources. Jack proudly served in the US Navy for four years and later with the Coast Guard. He began his 35-year career in law enforcement working with the City of Miami Beach Police Department and later with the Metro Dade Police Department. Jack relocated to Dothan from Palm Beach County in 2006 and was a member of Westwood Presbyterian Church.
Jack is survived by his wife, Susan Buckley; his sons, Bryan Buckley, Norman (Teresa) Buckley, and Robert (Beth) Buckley; his step-daughter, Kirsten (Jamie) Alday; his beloved grandchildren, Hillary Moody, Lawrence Buckley, Aaron Buckley, Justin Buckley, Jacob Alday, and Kylee Alday; his beloved great grandchildren, Alden Moody and Anderson Moody; and several nieces and nephews.
