Jack “Bunker” Hill, 87, of Enterprise, AL, passed away Friday,  October 12, 2018. 

Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday, October 16,  2018 at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church in Enterprise, AL with Father Zachary Greenwell officiating. Burial with full military honors will immediately follow at Meadowlawn Memorial Park in Enterprise with Searcy Funeral Home directing. Visitation will be held at the church one hour prior to the service.  In lieu of flowers memorial contributions can be made to either the Alzheimer’s Foundation, 322 8th Avenue, 7th Floor, New York, NY 10001; or the SOS Animal Shelter 25944 Highway 134, Enterprise, AL 36330.

Jack was born March 9, 1931 in Fort Branch, IN, to the late Amel and Grace Hill. He graduated from Valdosta High School in 1949 and played football under the winningest coach Wright Bazemore. He went on to play football for the University of Georgia under the direction of the legendary Wally Butts.

A military veteran, Jack retired from the United States Army as a lieutenant colonel after 20 years of service, and 6,000 flight hours. After he retired, Jack served as the Sikorsky representative in this area for 26 years.  He was instrumental in the development of the Blackhawk aircraft.

He was among the original members of the Army Aviation Association of America, the American Helicopter Society, original member of the Quiet Birdmen, and a long time member of the Enterprise Rotary Club.

Jack is survived by his wife of 62 years, Jean Hill; daughter Tracey Harrison of Panama City Beach, FL; son Mike Hill (Charlotte) of Bloomer, WI; grandson Patrick Harrison (Allie) of Indianapolis, IN; great-grandson Baylor Harrison; and Mr. Jack’s special friend and caregiver Dorothy Stackhouse.
