DOTHAN. . .Jack Doyle Davis, a resident of Dothan, passed away Sunday afternoon, November 3, 2024, in Extendicare Health Center in Dothan. He was 95.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M. Thursday, November 7, 2024, in the Holman-Headland Mortuary Chapel with Reverend Sam Williams officiating and a eulogy to be given by Clay Sellers. Burial will follow in Gardens of Memory, between Headland & Dothan. The family will receive friends from 4:00 until 6:00 P.M. Wednesday at the mortuary.
Flowers will be accepted or memorial contributions may be made to the charity of the donor’s choice.
Mr. Davis was a lifelong resident of Dothan, son of the late Johnnie B. Davis and Nina Arnold Davis. He served his country in the U. S. Air Force from 1947 until 1950. Upon discharge from the Air Force, Mr. Davis enlisted in the U.S. Navy and served during the Korean War from 1950 until 1954. He was affiliated with the Kinsey United Methodist Church where he formerly taught Sunday School and served in various leadership capacities. Mr. Davis taught Sunday School for over fifty years at several churches in the area. He was retired from Civil Service at Fort Rucker as a Clerk Typist.
Surviving relatives include his wife of seventy-one years, Betty Boothe Davis; a daughter, Carla Gulledge (Glen), Headland; a sister, Linda Middleton, Dothan; a brother Jerry Davis (Nell), Decatur, AL; grandsons, Joseph Gulledge (Lacy), and Samuel Gulledge (Elizabeth); great-grandchildren, Rylan Gulledge, Charlee Gulledge and Ava Gulledge; several nieces and nephews.
Serving as active pallbearers will be Joseph Gulledge, Samuel Gulledge, Todd Boothe, Scott Deese, Matthew Smyth and Robert Sanders. Serving as honorary pallbearers will be the Adult Sunday School Class of Kinsey United Methodist Church.
The family would like to express their appreciation to Extendicare Health Center for the loving care and kindness shown to Mr. Davis and his family.
