Jack Earl Wilkes, age 85, passed away Tuesday, May 20, 2014 at his residence.


 


Born November 18, 1928 in Abbeville, AL to the late J.W. Wilkes and Edna Fleming Wilkes, Mr. Wilkes was a loving, caring, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather who loved to camp, riding his motorcycle. His true joy was flying his airplane, and was a very successful business man. He also served his country in the United States Army, 82nd Airborne, where he was stationed in Fort Bragg, North Carolina. Besides his parents, he was also preceded in death by his second wife, Ann Hall Wilkes.


 


Survivors include his first wife, Shirley Bennett Wilkes of Fayetteville, N.C.; daughters, Jacqueline (Joseph) Richardson, Shirlene (Ed) Hoffman of Hartford, and Terri Wilkes Walker of Fayetteville, N.C.; son, Jay Wilkes of Dothan; brother, Thomas F. Wilkes of Birmingham; grandchildren, Wyndi Clark, Jami Kolosewicz, Serina Walker, Heather Webb, Melinda Sweeney, Sarah Wilkes, and Kati Wilkes; and 8 great-grandchildren.


 


Funeral services will be held Friday, May 23, 2014 at 11 AM from Ward Wilson Funeral Home Parlor.


 


In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the American Cancer Society.
