Jack Arthur Ezell (81) of Jakin, Georgia, died peacefully at home on March 3, 2023 surrounded by his family.
He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Olivia (Williams) Ezell, son, Timothy Jack Ezell (Kathy) of Jakin, GA, daughter, Melanie Ezell Hayes (Kevin) of Jacksonville, FL, five grandchildren, six great grandchildren, one great great grandchild, one sister, Carolyn (Ezell) Thompson of Holley Store Community, AL, Sister-in-Law, Gayle (Williams) Barnes (Doug) of Level Plains, AL, and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, family and friends. He is pre-deceased by his parents, Luther and Myrtie (Strickland) Ezell.
Jack grew up in the Holley Store Community of Coffee County, AL and graduated from Kinston High School in 1960. He and his wife lived in the Goodman Community where he worked as a broiler manager with ConAgra and, later, live haul manager with Perdue Farms for 30 years. After his retirement, he was a school bus driver for Enterprise City Schools for 10 years before moving to Jakin, Georgia in 2015. Throughout his life he was a talented musician who played numerous instruments, but most loved playing piano and fiddle for church and gospel groups, including the Happy Travelers and Safe Harbor, and bluegrass gospel with the Front Porch Pickers. He was also an avid fisherman and gardener. The family would like to thank everyone for their prayers, food, visits and shared laughs during his recent illness. We would also like to thank his church families at Donalsonville Church of God and Chancellor Assembly of God, and Gentiva Hospice of Bainbridge, GA for the love and excellent care in his final weeks.
Funeral service will be Monday the 6th of March 2023 in the Chapel of Sorrells Funeral Home at 2:00 pm with Rev Phillip Kirkland and Rev. Royce Morrow officiating. The family will receive friends at 1:00 pm until service time.
